Why can’t there be an easy compromise when it comes to holidays? I am now faced (once again) with dealing with 2 families (his and mine) who want to see us for Thanksgiving. Of course both sides want to do Thanksgiving on the Sunday. Unfortunately that means that my family loses out because ‘you’ve seen them more recently’. Things were definitely easier BGM (before Goober Monster) when I could’ve just said, ‘fine, then you go to your family and I’ll go to mine’. How does everyone else deal with holidays? It seems all complicated now.

October 3rd, 2007 at 5:34I think you’re facing the same perplexity as that of my newlywed cousin. Actually there had been occasions that they decided to stay home or just go somewhere else so neither of the guy or gurl’s side would feel bad if they can’t make it. Last time, It was my cousin who compromised since the girl’s family was pretty demanding about them spending their vacation with the girl’s family. Since my cousin lives near our house, and like you mentioned, the other side would always say, you’ve been around your relatives a lot so you’ve got to give our daughter a chance to be with us.
