Actually there had been occasions that they decided to stay home or just go somewhere else so neither of the guy or gurl's side would feel bad if they can't make it. Last time, It was my cousin who compromised since the girl's family was pretty demanding about them spending their vacation with the girl's family. Since my cousin lives near our house, and like you mentioned, the other side would always say, you've been around your relatives a lot so you've got to give our daughter a chance to be with us.
